A Weekend of Inspiration, Community, and Practice for Deacons

October 23–25, 2026 Online via Zoom

Deacons are called to proclaim the Gospel at the intersection of Church and world. We bring the needs of the community into the heart of the Church and carry the Church’s witness into daily life. Yet many deacons receive little formal preparation for preaching, and even experienced preachers benefit from opportunities to reflect, learn, and practice in the company of colleagues. “Preaching From the Margins” is a weekend created specifically for deacons who want to strengthen their preaching, deepen their confidence, and explore the unique voice of the diaconate in proclaiming the Gospel.

Through inspiring presentations, guided discussion, and moderated small-group preaching sessions, participants will:

• Deepen their understanding of the theology and vocation of preaching as a deacon
• Learn practical approaches to sermon preparation and delivery
• Receive supportive feedback on their preaching
• Share experiences and ideas with deacons from across Canada
• Discover fresh inspiration for ministry in today’s Church
