Preaching From Our Place:
Re-grounding Ourselves in the Good News

Christians have proclaimed for centuries that we have good news to share. But this good news does not float free from context—our proclamation of the Gospel has always been geographically shaped and grounded in our particular location. Over the course of three sessions, this preaching workshop will examine the role that our sense of creatureliness plays in how we preach the Gospel in the places where we find ourselves. Weaving together insights from theology and scripture, and drawing on the practice of spiritual disciplines, we will discuss themes of identity formation and belonging, exploring how our claims about Jesus reground and reorient our preaching in relation to the land and our neighbours. At a time of climate crisis and questions about Canada’s future as a country, this workshop is part of crafting a vital homiletical response to the context in which we minister.
