Bishop's Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Diocese of Kootenay, Anglican Church of Canada, part of the world-wide communion of Anglican Churches! I hope that your visit here will provide you with helpful information about our diocese and its parishes.

The Diocese of Kootenay was originally part of the Diocese of New Westminster, but as transportation improved and settlement increased along the valleys of south western British Columbia the new Diocese of Kootenay was established in 1900. There are beautiful churches, and wonderful congregations of faithful Christian people worshipping and serving together in the communities that make up the diocese.

I hope that if you have an opportunity to visit our diocese in person, you will drop in on a Sunday morning to share in our life. If you are moving to this beautiful part of Canada I extend a warm invitation to become part of the life of one of our congregations.

If you require more information I encourage you to contact one of the parishes directly, or to email our Synod Office through the link provided.

It is common to call the links on our computer screens “icons” for they are windows to other screens and will take you deeper into a program. That term of course, is based on the more ancient tradition of religious icons that are works of sacred art, which through prayer and meditation upon them are meant to take us deeper into the life of God.

May this site be a window into the life of the diocese and an invitation to enter more deeply into the life of the church which is itself a pathway into our deeper life in Christ as we seek to serve his mission in the world.
