The Rev. Canon Dr. David Neelands is Dean Emeritus of Divinity at Trinity College in the University of Toronto.  He completed his joint Honours B.A. in Philosophy and English in 1965, and his Masters in Philosophy in 1966, both at Trinity College, and began working as a full-time lecturer with the College’s Philosophy Department.  He studied theology at Oxford, and then returned to Trinity where he was appointed Registrar and Dean of Men from 1975 - 1980. 

While continuing his role as Registrar, and also teaching Theology and History, he received his Doctor of Theology degree in 1988. He then spent the next decade as Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs at U of T, before becoming the Director of the Toronto School of Theology in 1999.

For the next fifteen years, Neelands served as Dean of the Faculty of Divinity before retiring in June 2017. While continuing to teach, Neelands has additional roles as Honorary Canon of St. James Cathedral, Honorary Assistant Priest of St. Anne’s Anglican Church, and Honorary Assistant Priest at St. Thomas’s Anglican Church.
